GRAPHILO makes Writing enjoyable!

GRAPHILO‘s specialized high-quality paper is designed specifically for fountain pen inks.

The name GRAPHILO is a combination of the Greek words "graph" (to write) and "philo" (to love).

GRAPHILO was created with the qualities needed to work well with fountain pens.

With the cooperation of a paper manufacturer and fountain pen enthusiasts, the original fountain pen paper was created.

The paper was carefully selected from various types and tested for bleeding and other factors. The manufacturing of the paper gradually changed with fine adjustments after repeated writing tests on the papers until the perfect fountain pen paper was created.

The GRAPHILO paper is coated on both sides with a specialized organic filler that dramatically reduces the pores in the paper, and provides and uniform surface that prevents feathering and bleeding.

Many of the writing characteristics of GRAPHILO were created by devising the type, amount and blending method of the filler.

• Comfortable touch to write: Its texture gives excellent pen control without the scratchy or grabby feel
• Little to no feathering: The filler that thinly coats the surface of the paper has succeeded in reducing feathering and bleeding of ink
• Minimal bleeding or ghosting: By adjusting the composition of the filler, the ink is less likely to soak through to the other side, even when using a thick nib or writing in layers.
• It emphasizes shading and sheen very nicely: The uniform coated layer brings out the beautiful ink sheen and rich expression of shading
• Minimal difference in quality of both sides: There is usually a difference in quality between the front and back of a specialty paper. Some papers have big differences, but with GRAPHILO the quality of the front and back is virtually the same.

In recent years, GRAPHILO has been attracting attention not only by fountain pen enthusiasts but also by artists.

This paper is about the same thickness as your standard copy paper, but it does not sag or bleed through even when blurred with water or overlaid with colors, opening up possibility of this paper used also as drawing paper.

The renowned artist, Hiroshi Sato, uses a drawing method of "fountain pen rakugaki", in which he draws lines with a fountain pen and then extends them with a water brush. Many of his works have been drawn on GRAPHILO because of the slow ink penetration of this paper.
